About The Position

National Oilwell Varco (NOV) is a leading global supplier of drilling products for the energy industry. Our Conroe, TX facility, located at 500 Conroe Park West Dr, Conroe, TX 77303, operates 24/7 to produce downhole products for North American drilling activities. We offer an air-conditioned, highly organized, and clean 300,000 sq. ft. fabrication facility equipped with new CNC machines (Mazak, Mori Sieke, DMG Mori, Weiler, etc.) and a strong safety program. Requirements

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a drug screen & background check.
• 2+ years of CNC mill or lathe experience.
• Knowledge of G & M Codes.

Nice To Haves

• 1+ yrs. knowledge of standard safety and manufacturing processes.
• 2+ years of experience in a machine shop/manufacturing facility.
• Experience with reading part drawings/blueprints.
• Familiarity with measurement tools.
• Computer experience.

Responsibilities

• Operate, perform set-up changes, and conduct first article inspections on production runs utilizing CNC Machines.
• Load parts, prove tapes, operate controls, set offsets, perform simple edits, deburr, and inspect quality parts for conformance to requirements.
• Identify problems before production runs, observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance conditions, and adjust machine controls or control media as required.
• Read blueprints, precision measuring instruments, and job orders to determine dimensions, tolerance, and tooling requirements.
• Maintain knowledge of dimensions and tolerances for tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut, and cutting tools.
• Prove out new programs and make simple edits of NC programs on numerically controlled machines.
• Keep equipment and work area clean and orderly, and perform basic preventative maintenance functions on equipment.
• Read, interpret, and understand information in work orders, Bills of Materials, and other related documentation.
• Perform inspection of raw material or verify part serial number before machining.
• Perform work in a safe and efficient manner within established work instructions and special processes.
• Perform finish product inspections.
• Maximize yields during jobs and maintain high quality standards to minimize defects.
• Maintain NOV guidelines on safety, quality, and delivery.
• Clean work areas as necessary to maintain cleanliness, health, and safety standards.
• Champion facility goals for Safety, Quality, Innovation, and Cost, seeking opportunities for feedback on process improvements, cost savings, and efficiency/safety enhancements.
• Remain open to feedback and collaboration with other departments and business units.
• Perform all other reasonable tasks assigned with the goal of helping the team, operations, or the facility overall.
