About The Position

The CNC Machinist serves as a Subject Matter Expert in metal alloy production, responsible for programming, machining, and packaging finished products. Follows work instructions to complete shop orders on time while ensuring quality and accuracy.

Requirements

  • Associates degree with exposure to science (e.g. chemistry or biology); or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in a machinist role, or an Associate’s/Certificate from an accredited school.
  • 2+ years CNC Lathe programming and machining experience required.
  • Microsoft Office skills and ERP system familiarity.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy and safety.
  • Commitment to workplace safety and continuous improvement.
  • Proficient in taking precision measurements and identifying metal alloys by physical characteristics.
  • Skilled in maintaining orientation of cast metal parts throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Ability to find and maintain proper orientation of cast metal disks through the manufacturing process.
  • Experience operating CNC Lathes and Mills; machining various alloys preferred (e.g., Nickel, Magnesium, Zinc, Cast Iron).
  • Strong computer skills, including CNC programming and use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel).
  • Excellent communication, attention to detail, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Self-motivated with a practical, hands-on approach to challenges.

Nice To Haves

  • 2 to 4 years production experience.
  • Proficient in math.
  • Ability to interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to solve practical problems, using a variety of instructions or guides furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Apply best practices to maximize quality and profitability in part production.
  • Program, operate, and troubleshoot equipment including lathe, mill, saw, and laser engraver.
  • Follow prioritization of daily workflow.
  • Execute all work required to produce Finished Goods including assembly.
  • Support New Product Development (NPD) initiatives and special projects.
  • Enforce adherence to safety procedures and promptly report incidents or equipment issues.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work environment.
  • Participate in completion of safety audits.
  • Help to audit inventory using ERP system (IFS).
  • Execute inventory adjustments, labor entries, and shop order updates.
  • Maintain supply inventory and execute reorders as needed.
  • Author and refine Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) aligned with the Quality System and ISO standards.
  • Participate in initiatives to enhance efficiency, reduce costs, and improve procedures.
  • Engage in a collaborative and value-driven team culture.
  • Effectively communicate through systems such as Outlook and Teams.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
