About The Position

This role involves setting up and operating CNC machines, specifically mills and lathes, to produce parts that meet exact specifications. The CNC Machinist will interpret blueprints, process routers, and work instructions to understand machining requirements. Key responsibilities include performing machine setups, making adjustments during production, conducting in-process inspections, and potentially creating or editing CNC programs. The position also requires routine machine maintenance, clear communication with team members, maintaining a safe work area, and adhering to company policies. Additional duties may be assigned by management to support production goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to interpret blueprints, process routers, and work instructions.
  • Proficiency in performing machine setups, including tooling, fixtures, and materials selection and installation.
  • Skill in making offsets and tool changes during production.
  • Ability to monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments.
  • Experience with in-process inspections using precision measuring tools such as calipers, micrometers, and gauges.
  • Capability to create and/or edit CNC programs.
  • Knowledge of routine machine maintenance.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Understanding of company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Ability to follow company policies, procedures, and work instructions.
  • Willingness to assist colleagues with troubleshooting and support.

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes) to manufacture parts to precise specifications.
  • Interpret blueprints, process routers, and work instructions to determine machining requirements.
  • Perform machine setups, including selection and installation of tooling, fixtures, and materials.
  • Make necessary offsets and tool changes during production to maintain dimensional accuracy.
  • Monitor machining operations and make real-time adjustments to ensure parts meet quality standards.
  • Conduct in-process inspections using calipers, micrometers, gauges, and other precision measuring tools.
  • Create and/or edit CNC programs to improve cycle times, part quality, and machine efficiency.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machines and report issues requiring additional repair or service.
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors, programmers, and quality control personnel regarding production issues or improvements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area in compliance with company safety policies and OSHA standards.
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and work instructions to ensure consistency and compliance.
  • Assist fellow machinists with troubleshooting and support as needed.
  • Perform various other duties and responsibilities as assigned by management to support production goals.
