About The Position

Leidos’ Defense Systems Colorado Manufacturing is seeking a CNC Machinist 2nd Shift to join our team at our Colorado Springs, CO location. The ideal candidate will need to have experience in programming, setup, and operation of a variety of machine tools including CNC Mills and CNC Lathes. Requirements

  • High School diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of experience years of precision machining experience on CNC Mills & CNC Lathes.
  • Intermediate knowledge of shop math skills.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings as well as understand basic work instructions for product fabrication
  • General knowledge, skills, and understanding with hand and power tools to include, deburring tools, wrenches, etc.
  • Proficiency with precision measuring and fixed gauge equipment (micrometers, calipers, electronic height gauges, etc.)
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 35+ pounds unassisted.
  • Candidates must be able to work overtime when required.
  • US Citizenship requirement and clearance requirement

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the manufacturing of large aerospace components from exotic materials is a plus.
  • 5-axis and/or mill-turn experience.
  • Applicants must be able to work on different projects in an ever changing, rapid paced environment with little or no assistance
  • Experience in the manufacturing of complex aerospace components from exotic materials
  • Strong interpersonal skills.
  • Basic PC skills for data entry, timecard and production time entries

Responsibilities

  • Must be capable of reading engineering drawings
  • Operation of CNC lathes (primarily), provide backup operations on CNC mills and other manual equipment.
  • Set up and run machines on a wide variety of operations involving multiple machines that convert raw materials to precision finished goods within print tolerance specification.
  • Use fixtures or gauges to verify accomplish dimensional checks.
  • Performs other duties as required and available for overtime as necessary.
