About The Position
McWilliams Forge, a growing company that supports the aerospace industry, is seeking a machinist familiar with turning machines. The role involves setting up and operating a variety of machines, including milling, turning, drilling, and grinding, to work from drawings with little or no guidance and to close tolerances. The shift hours are Saturday and Sunday from 5pm to 5am.
Requirements
- Previous manufacturing experience (3+ years)
- Willingness to learn
- Experience with tight tolerances and high-precision parts
- Knowledge of tooling, feeds, speeds, and materials
Nice To Haves
- CNC programming experience (G-code, Mastercam, Fusion 360, etc.)
- Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate CNC machines (mills, lathes, or multi-axis machines)
- Load programs, install tooling, and set work offsets
- Read and interpret blueprints and work instructions
- Monitor machine operations and make necessary adjustments
- Inspect finished parts using precision measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges)
- Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshooting
- Maintain accurate production and inspection records
- Follow all safety, quality, and company procedures
- Collaborate with engineers, programmers, and supervisors to improve processes
