About The Position

Custom Metal Designs LLC is seeking an experienced CNC Machinist/Programmer to join their team. This role involves setting up and operating various CNC machines, performing quality inspections, and optimizing machine operations using pre-programmed software to produce high-quality parts. The company, a pioneer in automation for the food, beverage, dairy, and packaging industries since 1972, is part of the DCC Automation family and focuses on custom conveyor systems, precision metal fabrication, advanced material handling, and integrated robotics. The position is located in Oakland, FL.

Requirements

  • Experience machining a wide range of materials.
  • Minimum of 2 years of CNC programming experience.
  • Proficient in the use of precision measuring instruments.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, and pull up to 50 lbs regularly.
  • Capable of standing for extended periods.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3+ years of experience as a CNC machinist/programmer.
  • Experience with Fusion 360 CAD/CAM.
  • Familiarity with Mitsubishi controls.
  • Mastercam certification.
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Design and fabricate fixtures and workholding devices as needed.
  • Program and operate CNC mills and lathes using G-code, Mastercam, and SolidWorks with FANUC controls.
  • Set up machines by selecting, aligning, and securing fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, and materials.
  • Calculate and adjust machine settings, including spindle position, cutting depth, speed, feed rates, and coolant flow.
  • Monitor machining processes and stop equipment as needed to change tools, adjust setups, or verify part dimensions against blueprints and work orders.
  • Perform in-process and final inspections to ensure parts meet engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Conduct routine cleaning and basic preventive maintenance on machines and equipment.
  • Accurately track jobs and part data within the SAP system.
  • Maintain compliance with all quality standards, ISO requirements, and OSHA safety regulations.
  • Follow all company policies, safety procedures, and housekeeping expectations.
  • Prioritize and complete assignments as directed by supervisors.
  • Support team operations and perform additional duties as needed.
