About The Position

Atlanta Gear Works is looking for an experienced CNC Machinist to join their skilled team in Dawsonville, GA. This is a contract precision maintenance jobshop that services and repairs both large and small process critical gearboxes for a variety of industries. The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of prior machining experience, including programming and the ability to operate manual and CNC Lathes and Mills, and read mechanical drawings. This position is for a machinist, not an operator.

Requirements

At least 3 years of prior machining experience.
Experience in programming.
Ability to operate manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
High School Diploma or GED.
Experience with correctly using high precision measuring instruments (such as verniers, micrometers OD & ID, depth gauge, etc.) in lengths of a thousandth.
Must have a valid driver’s license in good standing.
Must pass pre-employment drug screen.
Must undergo pre-employment background check.

Nice To Haves

Technical school is a plus.

Responsibilities

Machine parts from mechanical drawings.
CNC work must include setup, programming (on Machine and in CAM), tool setup and operations.
Experience in both Manual and CNC Lathes and Mills.
Ability to read micrometers and other measuring instruments and record readings.
Ability to read mechanical drawings.
Ability to make simple math calculations.
