About The Position

The Grind Machinist sets up and operates grinding machines to produce parts in accordance with blueprint specifications, work instructions, and established procedures. This position is based in Warsaw, Indiana, and is assigned to the first shift. The machinist performs quality checks, corrects dimensional problems, maintains production and scrap counts, and completes required paperwork and database entries.

Requirements

• Ability to read and use calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and depth micrometers.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints and work operation sheets to determine appropriate operations.
• Understanding of G and M codes.
• Strong computer skills.
• Good interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work with little direct supervision.
• Ability to lift and carry 40 pounds.
• Ability to stand and walk for more than eight hours per day.
• Ability to work overtime daily or weekly.
• High school diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Operate grinding equipment and run production according to established procedures and guidelines.
• Set up parts according to blueprints and guidelines.
• Use inspection gauges, including calipers, micrometers, height gauges, and comparators, to perform quality checks as outlined by AQL and work instructions.
• Correct dimensional problems and approve setups performed by other operators.
• Maintain accurate counts of completed and scrapped parts.
• Complete production paperwork and make required entries into the company database.
• Comply with all policies and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
