About The Position

The CNC Tool Grinder Apprentice role provides paid, hands-on training in precision manufacturing. The apprentice learns to manufacture and recondition high-precision cutting tools using advanced multi-axis CNC grinding equipment, with guidance from experienced mentors. The role offers the opportunity to develop CNC machining skills and pursue career growth in a stable and growing manufacturing environment.

Requirements

• Strong math and problem-solving skills, including basic trigonometry for angle calculations.
• Basic computer skills and the ability to learn CNC machine controls.
• Ability to read blueprints and interpret technical drawings.
• Experience using, or willingness to learn to use, precision measuring and inspection equipment.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and desire to learn a skilled trade.
• Flexibility to train on first shift and transition to second or third shift after training.

Responsibilities

• Learn the complete CNC tool grinding process, from reviewing work assignments through producing finished tools.
• Set up and operate multi-axis CNC tool grinding machines.
• Select grinding wheels and tooling appropriate for each job.
• Enter tool specifications and machine parameters into CNC controls.
• Perform first-piece inspections and adjust machines to ensure quality and accuracy.
• Read blueprints, work instructions, and technical drawings.
• Use precision measuring and testing equipment to verify product quality.
• Follow established safety and quality procedures while developing machining skills.
