Apprentice CNC Toolmaker
About The Position
Pinewood Tool is hiring an Apprentice CNC Toolmaker to learn precision toolmaking through paid, hands-on training alongside experienced toolmakers. The role offers a path to CNC Toolmaker, with raises tied to skill milestones. Apprentices learn to take a part from print to finished piece by programming, setting up, machining, and inspecting it. Work includes one-off parts, prototypes, and short runs for automotive, medical device, aerospace, industrial automation, and engineered-products customers, with tolerances as tight as .0001 inches. The shop uses modern machines, AI tools, Mastercam, machine controls, and a modern ERP.
Requirements
- Enrolled in a technical college machine tool, CNC, or manufacturing program, or a recent graduate.
- No prior experience is needed.
- Curiosity and drive.
- Enjoy building, fixing, or figuring things out.
- Detail-oriented, dependable, and team-minded.
- Proud of work done right.
Responsibilities
- Learn to set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and grinders alongside a mentor.
- Read blueprints and apply GD&T.
- Learn programming in Mastercam and at the machine control.
- Machine precision parts and tooling to tight tolerances.
- Measure and inspect work using precision instruments.
- Develop from running parts to owning a job from print through finished part.
