About The Position

As a member of the Corewell Health nursing team at the Hanson Hospice Center, the CNA provides patient care according to individual care plans, unit routines, and hospital policies. Working under the direction of a Registered Nurse, Unit Manager, or other licensed nurse, the CNA supports patients and their families through direct day-to-day care. This full-time position is scheduled for day shifts, with variable workdays and every other weekend. The stated hours are 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., with 36 weekly scheduled hours.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a State of Michigan-approved CNA training course.
• Michigan driver's license.
• Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems Nursing Assistant credential upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross within 90 days, as applicable to Corewell Health Continuing Care, including Regional Rehab and Nursing Centers, Lakeland Continuing Care, and Caring Circle Hospice.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or licensed nurse, consistent with unit policies and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care for assigned residents or patients, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding.
• Document care as directed and in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintain patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment; communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel.
• Complete and maintain the required number of CNA educational hours.
• Participate in selected unit quality-monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.
• Participate in safety initiatives and risk-mitigation measures, and complete position- and unit-related safety competencies and requirements on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
