About The Position

As a member of the nursing team at Corewell Health’s Hanson Hospice Center, the CNA provides patient care according to individual care plans, unit routines, and hospital policies. Under the direction of a Registered Nurse, the CNA supports patients and their families through direct day-to-day care, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding. The role also includes documenting care, maintaining the patient environment and equipment, completing required educational hours, and participating in unit quality and safety activities.

This is a full-time day-shift position with variable workdays and every other weekend required. Scheduled hours are 36 per week, with hours of work from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Completion of a State of Michigan-approved CNA training course.
• Michigan driver’s license.
• Michigan Department of Licensing & Regulatory Affairs, Bureau of Community and Health Systems Nursing Assistant credential upon hire.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the Unit Manager or Licensed Nurse, consistent with unit policies and procedures.
• Provide day-to-day care for assigned residents or patients, including dressing, bathing, transporting, and feeding.
• Document care provided as directed and in accordance with guidelines.
• Maintain patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment; report equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Complete and maintain the required number of CNA educational hours.
• Participate in selected unit quality-monitoring activities under the direction of the Unit Manager or Nurse Leader.
• Participate in safety initiatives and risk-mitigation measures, and complete position- and unit-related safety competencies and requirements on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
