About The Position

Under the direction of an RN Case Manager or Team Leader, the CNA provides quality personal care according to an established Plan of Care and performs other assigned supportive tasks. The position is located at the Spicewood Location in Austin, Texas, and is listed as 40 hours (1 FTE), with a Monday–Friday shift of 8 a.m.–5 p.m. The CNA reports to the CNA Manager and does not supervise others.

Requirements

• Current, active Texas nurse aide certification (CNA).
• Good-standing listing on the Texas nurse aide/misconduct registry, with no finding relating to client abuse or neglect or misappropriation of client property, verified through the Texas Department of Human Services (DHS).
• Valid Texas driver’s license.
• Auto liability insurance.
• Safe driving record.
• CPR certification.

Nice To Haves

• Hospice or home health experience.

Responsibilities

• Assist with personal hygiene, including bathing, grooming hair and nails, oral hygiene, and checking skin integrity.
• Provide peri-care and perform Foley care and maintenance.
• Dress patients.
• Transfer and turn patients while ensuring the safety of both the patient and self.
• Take vital signs and weights as directed.
• Ambulate patients as appropriate and perform range-of-motion exercises as directed.
• Perform simple dressing changes as directed by the RN, limited to non-sterile, non-surgical changes and pressure ulcers no greater than Stage 1.
• Assist with medications that are ordinarily self-administered.
• Provide care consistent with written instructions in the patient’s care plan.
• Demonstrate understanding and support in interactions with team members.
• Communicate with the RN Case Manager and other team members as appropriate, and report changes in patient condition and needs.
• Document care promptly and in compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
• Obtain supplies and teach patients how to use medical supplies.
• Use and reinforce the RN’s teaching on equipment use.
• Check equipment for safety and clean equipment.
• Change linens.
• Provide nutritional support, assist with feeding, prepare light meals, and perform light housekeeping as indicated.
