About The Position

Suncoast Hospice, a member of Empath Health, is seeking a caring and motivated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to provide patient-centered care at its Care Center in Pinellas County. The CNA works under the direction of a licensed nurse, monitors and reports changes in patient condition, and performs only the personal care and home-maintenance activities included in a health professional employee’s written Hospice Aide Plan of Care. The position requires flexibility to work at various locations and be reassigned based on business needs. The scheduled night shift is 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.

Requirements

Valid Florida Board of Nursing CNA certification/license.
One to three years of training and/or experience.
Valid CPR certification from the American Red Cross or American Heart Association.
A valid Florida State Driver’s License is required only if choosing to drive when reassigned to another facility. Alternative transportation is permitted; transportation costs are the colleague’s responsibility, except that mileage reimbursement may be available for travel between facilities while on company time.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in a long-term care facility is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Support and carry out the organization’s mission, vision, and values consistently.
Perform only personal care and home-maintenance activities included in the written Hospice Aide Plan of Care.
Recognize and report unusual patient conditions, incidents, behavior, or patient/family interactions to the patient’s nurse or supervisory nurse.
Work within the scope of practice of the Hospice Aide.
Maintain the utmost respect for patient and family confidentiality.
Monitor and report changes in patient condition.
