About The Position

This position involves the direct care of patients by assisting with personal hygiene, dressing, feeding, and mobility, while also monitoring vital signs, documenting care, and communicating changes in patient condition to the nursing staff. CNAs work under the supervision of nurses and are responsible for providing compassionate care and ensuring patient safety and comfort. The role also includes ward clerk duties such as processing admission, discharge, and shift audit documents, and answering phone calls to the unit.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • State of Oregon Certified Nursing Assistant License
  • BLS certification
  • Ability to provide a CNA level scope of care based on Oregon State Board of Nursing, age specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being.
  • Sufficient auditory ability to detect and respond to various sounds, including patient alarms and verbal communication.
  • Clear and effective communication is essential, as is the ability to interact with patients, families, and healthcare team members.
  • Visual acuity is necessary for observing patient conditions, reading documentation and monitors, and distinguishing colors for clinical purposes.
  • Tactile perception is important for assessing physical characteristics such as temperature, size, shape, or texture during patient care.
  • Motor coordination is required for reaching, grasping, handling, and performing fine motor tasks necessary for the use of medical equipment and procedures.
  • Occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, or crawling when assisting patients or accessing equipment.
  • Continuous walking and standing throughout the shift.
  • Ability to lift to 50 pounds independently.
  • Frequent pushing, pulling, carrying, or repositioning of objects or patients weighing up to 25 pounds.
  • Occasional lifting or transferring of individuals weighing over 100 pounds, with the expectation that appropriate lifting techniques, mechanical aids, or team assistance will be used to ensure safety.
  • May sit for long periods of time.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year of previous experience Certified Nursing Assisting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of duties, often changing from one task to another of a different nature without loss of efficiency or composure.
  • Recognize the rights and responsibilities of patient confidentiality.
  • Convey empathy and compassion to both patients and coworkers.
  • Report to primary nurse or shift charge nurse any changes in patient condition.
  • Relate to others in a manner that creates a sense of teamwork and cooperation.
  • Communicate effectively and therapeutically with patients and their friends, family, and caregivers.
  • Provide a CNA level scope of care based on Oregon State Board of Nursing, age specific, cultural, physical and psychosocial well-being.
  • Assist in duties as assigned by the Shift Charge such as processing admission, discharge, and shift audit documents.
  • Answering the phone calls to the unit.
  • Support the hospital mission, vision, values, policies, and procedures.
  • Participate in required education for DNV programs as applicable to position.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
