About The Position

The Unit Tech (Certified Nursing Assistant) works in the Family Maternity Center – Postpartum under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. The role performs tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation, and clerical duties. The position is part-time, scheduled for 30 hours per week on night hours, in Kirkland, Washington. EvergreenHealth is an integrated two-hospital public hospital district in the Puget Sound area east of Seattle. The organization provides patient care and services focused on quality and patient safety.

Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent.
Current certification as a Nursing Assistant Certified (NA-C) in Washington State.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
Ability to apply knowledge of basic patient care techniques and procedures for the specific age group assigned.

Responsibilities

Observe, document, and report changes in patient activity or symptoms, including vital signs, respiration, discomfort, intake, output, height, weight, and bleeding.
Assist with or prepare patients for transport, including moving them between a bed and a gurney or wheelchair.
Transport patients, patient belongings and valuables, blood products, supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and specimens between locations.
Acknowledge patient inquiries and respond to or refer them appropriately.
Answer patient call lights, determine the nature of the problem, respond within scope, and/or obtain appropriate resources.
Assist RNs and other healthcare providers with wound care and patient procedures as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
