About The Position

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Unit Tech (Certified Nursing Assistant) performs tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation, and various clerical tasks. The position is in FMC Postpartum and is listed as 0.75 FTE on nights. EvergreenHealth is an integrated two-hospital public hospital district headquartered in the Puget Sound area east of Seattle. The organization provides patient care and services focused on quality and patient safety.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Current Nursing Assistant Certified (NA-C) certification in the State of Washington.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
Ability to apply knowledge of basic patient care techniques and procedures to the care of the specific age group assigned.

Responsibilities

Observe, document, and report changes in patient activity or symptoms, including vital signs, respiration, discomfort, intake, output, height, weight, and bleeding.
Assist with or prepare patients for transport, including moving them between a bed and a gurney or wheelchair.
Transport patients, patient belongings and valuables, blood products, supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and specimens to and from various locations.
Acknowledge patient inquiries and respond to or refer them appropriately.
Answer patient call lights, determine the nature of the problem, and respond within scope or obtain appropriate resources.
Assist registered nurses and other healthcare providers with wound care and patient procedures as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
