About The Position

The CNA / Unit Tech works in EvergreenHealth’s Family Maternity Center – Postpartum in Kirkland, Washington. Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Unit Tech (Certified Nursing Assistant) performs direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation, and clerical tasks. This is a part-time night position scheduled for 24 hours per week. EvergreenHealth is a public hospital district and an integrated two-hospital system serving the Puget Sound area east of Seattle. The organization describes its care as award-winning and emphasizes patient safety and quality. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement between EvergreenHealth and SEIU Healthcare 1199NW; union membership is optional.

Requirements

High school graduate or equivalent.
Current Nursing Assistant Certified (NA-C) certification in the State of Washington.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification by date of hire.
Ability to apply knowledge of basic patient care techniques and procedures to the care of the assigned age group.

Responsibilities

Observe, document, and report changes in patient activity or symptoms, including vital signs, respiration, discomfort, intake, output, height, weight, and bleeding.
Assist with or prepare patients for transport, including moving them between a bed and a gurney or wheelchair.
Transport patients, patient belongings and valuables, blood products, supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and specimens between locations.
Acknowledge patient inquiries and respond to or refer them appropriately.
Answer patient call lights, determine the nature of the problem, and respond within scope or obtain appropriate resources.
Assist registered nurses and other healthcare providers with wound care and patient procedures as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
