About The Position

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Unit Tech (Certified Nursing Assistant) performs tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment, transportation, and various clerical tasks. This is a .6 FTE day position in FMC Postpartum. The role is based at EvergreenHealth, an integrated two-hospital public hospital district headquartered in the Puget Sound area east of Seattle.

Requirements

High school graduation or equivalent.
Current Nursing Assistant Certified (NA-C) certification in the State of Washington.
Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider BLS certification by the date of hire.
Ability to apply knowledge of basic patient care techniques and procedures to the care of the assigned age group.

Recent experience in an acute care facility.

Responsibilities

Observe, document, and report changes in patient activity and symptoms, including vital signs, respiration, discomfort, intake, output, height, weight, and bleeding.
Assist with or prepare patients for transport, including transferring patients between a bed and a gurney or wheelchair.
Transport patients, patient belongings and valuables, blood products, supplies, pharmaceuticals, equipment, and specimens between locations.
Acknowledge patient inquiries and respond to them or refer them appropriately.
Answer patient call lights, determine the nature of the problem, and respond within scope or obtain appropriate resources.
Assist registered nurses and other healthcare providers with wound care and patient procedures as directed.
Perform other duties as assigned.
