LNA CNA Hospice Aide
About The Position
As the CNA Hospice Aide, you provide compassionate, hands-on care to patients and support their families during end-of-life care. The role focuses on helping patients with daily living activities while promoting comfort, dignity, and emotional well-being. Working closely with the hospice care team, you provide respectful, individualized care in accordance with each patient’s care plan and written instructions from a registered nurse. The position is with Wentworth Hospice, part of Amedisys and the Optum family. Amedisys provides home health, hospice, and community-based services so patients can receive care at home. Candidates must pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Requirements
- Current state certification or registration as a nurse assistant (CNA), according to state requirements.
- Current CPR certification.
- Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and liability insurance.
- Must pass a drug test before beginning employment.
Nice To Haves
- CNA experience within the last two years.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care services to patients.
- Apply safety principles and proper body mechanics when assisting with ambulation, transfers, range of motion, positioning, and household chores.
- Plan and prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as assigned.
- Perform homemaking and other environmental services as assigned.
- Observe, report, and document changes in a patient’s status; report to the primary nurse when unable to perform a task.
- Follow written personal-care instructions prepared by a registered nurse in accordance with the plan of care, received before delivering services.
- Assist patients with prescribed exercises as instructed by a nurse or therapist.
- Perform and record simple urine tests for sugar, acetone, and albumin.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
