About The Position

Hospice of North Alabama is seeking a dedicated Hospice CNA to provide compassionate care to hospice patients in the Morgan County coverage area. The role supports patients and families at home by providing personal care, comfort, companionship, and assistance with daily activities. CNAs work independently with team support and collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. The office location is Cullman, Alabama; the posting also identifies Decatur, Alabama as the work location.

Requirements

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice.
• At least six months of experience, including providing personal care.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training; 16 classroom hours must be completed before the required 16 hours of practical training.
• Maintain current CPR certification in states where required.
• Be able to read and follow written instructions and document care provided.
• Understand hospice philosophy and be comfortable providing specialized care to terminally ill patients.
• Be able to work with little direct supervision.
• Be able to handle death and dying.
• Have strong oral and written communication skills.
• Have good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and safe equipment use.
• Assist with self-administered medications in accordance with state regulations.
• Provide companionship and emotional comfort to patients and families.
• Perform light housekeeping, including changing linens, assisting with meals, and maintaining a clean space.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation of care.
• Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team.
