About The Position

Haven Hospice is seeking a dedicated Hospice Certified Nursing Assistant to provide dignity, comfort, and support to patients and families in Gainesville, Florida. The role serves the Gainesville coverage area and Haven Care Center, providing one-to-one care and working independently with support from the hospice team. The schedule is full-time days, three 12-hour shifts from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., with alternating weekends and holidays. The position is subject to a Level 2 background screening.

Requirements

• Meet the training requirements of the state of practice.
• Have at least six months of experience, including providing personal care.
• Be at least 18 years of age.
• Complete at least 75 hours of classroom and supervised practical training; 16 classroom hours must be completed before the required 16 hours of practical training.
• Possess and maintain current CPR certification in states where required.
• Be able to read and follow written instructions and document care provided.
• Understand hospice philosophy and be comfortable providing specialized care to terminally ill patients.
• Be able to work with little direct supervision and handle death and dying.
• Have strong oral and written communication skills and good organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Help patients with bathing, dressing, toileting, mobility, and repositioning.
• Observe and report changes in patients’ conditions.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, range-of-motion exercises, and safe equipment use.
• Assist with self-administered medications in accordance with state regulations.
• Provide companionship and emotional comfort to patients and families.
• Change linens, assist with meals, and maintain a clean space.
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
• Collaborate with the hospice interdisciplinary team.
