About The Position

The Club Sponsor leads the Curious Cougars Newspaper Club at Lafayette Elementary after school once per month. The club teaches students in grades K–5 journalism skills, including writing articles, interviewing, researching, printing, and distribution. The sponsor organizes and supervises the club, establishes its direction and expectations, and monitors members’ eligibility and academic progress. The position is an extra-duty assignment with activity dates from November 16, 2026, through April 5, 2027, and a stated start date of November 17, 2026.

Requirements

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Complete and submit the BVSD online application.
• Communicate in English by reading, writing, and speaking.

• Knowledge of all aspects of high school activity programming.
• Proven leadership qualities and successful experience working with high school students.
