SAIC is seeking a skilled, experienced mid-level Database Administrator to manage and optimize Oracle and NoSQL databases. Project teams use Oracle RDS and AWS-managed databases, including PostgreSQL, DocumentDB, and MongoDB. The role calls for an understanding of NoSQL’s advantages and disadvantages relative to relational databases, as well as differences between Oracle Exadata and Aurora PostgreSQL RDS. The administrator will work with failover and recovery, backups, migrations of on-premises databases to AWS, and AWS services, with a focus on database performance, availability, security, and troubleshooting complex queries and issues across large databases. The position administers database permissions, policies, and procedures; monitors and tunes performance; plans and tests backup, recovery, and failover; and leads database migrations and upgrades. It also involves maintaining and developing performance, monitoring, and security tools, supporting compliance and data privacy requirements, managing AWS Redshift and other data warehousing solutions, and using AWS CloudWatch and other tools to monitor database health and automate scaling and notifications. The role supports complex integrity, performance, blocking, deadlocking, replication, and log-shipping issues. The candidate must be able to handle Oracle production issues and carry the Oracle duty phone on a rotational basis. The position is hybrid, with on-site visits in Ashburn, Virginia, one day per week and as mission needs require. An on-call schedule may require travel to a datacenter. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and able to obtain and hold a public trust position with favorable suitability based on a CBP Background Investigation.
