About The Position

The Cloud & AI Security Architect enables, matures, and operationalizes cyber defense capabilities across Elevance Health’s enterprise and subsidiary cloud environments. The role works closely with Cloud Infrastructure, Application Engineering, Detection Engineering, and Security Operations to deploy, monitor, and continuously improve cloud-native security telemetry, detection, and response capabilities. The architect leads cloud cyber defense integration across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI; ensures appropriate security controls, logging, and telemetry; develops cloud threat monitoring use cases; and helps security operations investigate and remediate cloud security events. The role also shapes cloud defense strategy, incorporates automation and AI-driven capabilities, evaluates vendors and technologies, supports compliant architecture design and governance reviews, and advises leaders as a cloud cyber defense subject matter expert. This hybrid role requires associates to work in-office 1–2 days per week. Alternate locations may be considered for candidates within commuting distance of an office. The position is classified as Non-Management Exempt.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field, and at least 10 years of experience in systems administration and security aspects of information systems, access management and network security technologies, network communications, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management, hardware, software, data, and people; experience across multiple technical and business disciplines is required.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

Nice To Haves

Cloud security certifications such as CCSP or cloud-service-provider-specific security certifications.
Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Integrate cyber defense and security operations capabilities into enterprise and subsidiary AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI environments, ensuring consistent visibility and detection coverage.
Partner with cloud infrastructure, application, platform, and engineering teams to enable and validate security controls, logging, and telemetry for cloud services, workloads, and environments.
Define the strategy and roadmap for cloud cyber defense, including CSPM, threat detection, logging pipelines, and incident response integration.
Develop cloud threat monitoring use cases and train SOC analysts to triage, investigate, and remediate related alerts.
Collaborate with security operations and incident response teams to investigate complex cloud security events and support remediation.
Incorporate automation and AI-driven capabilities into cloud threat management operations.
Evaluate, select, and onboard vendor technologies, and work with vendors to align product roadmaps with evolving business and technical requirements.
Design cloud architectures compliant with FedRAMP or other regulatory requirements to support new business pursuits.
Participate in governance reviews for cloud services, AI-enabled platforms, and SaaS offerings, defining security requirements, logging, and guardrails before approval.
Serve as a cloud cyber defense subject matter expert, advise executive leadership, and train and mentor junior team members.
Prepare business-level presentations to build executive and stakeholder support for cloud cyber defense initiatives.
Develop policies, technical standards, and other foundational documentation.
Support regulatory and audit initiatives by validating cloud security controls, collecting evidence, and aligning with frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI, HITRUST, and FedRAMP.
