About The Position

The Cloud & AI Security Architect enables, matures, and operationalizes cyber defense capabilities across Elevance Health’s enterprise and subsidiary cloud environments. The role partners with Cloud Infrastructure, Application Engineering, Detection Engineering, and Security Operations to deploy, monitor, and continually improve cloud-native security telemetry, detection, and response capabilities. The architect leads cloud cyber defense integration across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI; defines strategy and roadmaps for cloud security monitoring and incident response; develops threat-monitoring use cases; and trains SOC analysts in alert triage, investigation, and remediation. The role also supports cloud security event investigations, introduces automation and AI-driven threat-management capabilities, evaluates and onboards vendors, and helps design compliant cloud architectures for new business pursuits. Additional work includes governance reviews for cloud services, AI-enabled platforms, and SaaS offerings; advising executive leadership; mentoring junior team members; preparing business-level presentations; developing security policies and technical standards; and supporting regulatory and audit initiatives involving frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI, HITRUST, and FedRAMP.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology or a related field and at least 10 years of experience in systems administration and security aspects of information systems, access management, network security technologies, network communications, computer networking, telecommunications, systems development and management, hardware, software, data, and people; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience across multiple technical and business disciplines.

Nice To Haves

Cloud security certifications such as CCSP or cloud service provider-specific security certifications.
Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure.

Responsibilities

Integrate cyber defense and security operations capabilities into enterprise and subsidiary cloud environments across AWS, Azure, GCP, and OCI.
Partner with cloud infrastructure, application, platform, and engineering teams to enable and validate security controls, logging, and telemetry.
Define the roadmap and strategy for cloud cyber defense, including CSPM, threat detection, logging pipelines, and incident response integration.
Develop cloud threat-monitoring use cases and train SOC analysts to triage, investigate, and remediate related alerts.
Collaborate with security operations and incident response teams to investigate complex cloud security events and support remediation.
Introduce automation and AI-driven capabilities into cloud threat-management operations.
Evaluate, select, and onboard security technologies with vendors, and work with vendor contacts to address evolving business and technical requirements.
Design cloud architectures compliant with FedRAMP or other regulatory requirements to support new business pursuits.
Contribute to governance reviews for cloud services, AI-enabled platforms, and SaaS offerings, ensuring security requirements, logging, and guardrails are defined before approval.
Serve as a subject matter expert in cloud cyber defense and advise executive leadership on cloud security matters.
Train and mentor junior team members.
Prepare business-level presentations to garner executive and stakeholder support for cloud cyber defense initiatives.
Develop policies, technical standards, and other foundational documentation.
Support regulatory and audit initiatives by validating cloud security controls, collecting evidence, and aligning with frameworks such as SOC 2, PCI, HITRUST, and FedRAMP.
