About The Position

The Seasonal Clothing Sorter is a member of Liberty Ministries’ thrift production team. The role sorts incoming clothing donations, identifies clothing categories, and separates items that are damaged, stained, excessively worn, or otherwise unsalable for recycling or other designated processing. It is a fast-paced, volume-driven position requiring attention to detail, good judgment, efficiency, and teamwork. Team members remain standing for scheduled shifts of up to eight hours, with appropriate breaks, and perform repetitive sorting activities. Seasonal positions are available on both full-time and part-time schedules. Training is provided; prior related experience is preferred but not required.

Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods, up to eight hours per shift, with scheduled breaks.
• Ability to perform repetitive hand and arm movements throughout the workday.
• Ability to bend, stoop, reach, push, pull, and lift up to 30–50 pounds as required.
• Ability to communicate effectively in English, including basic reading, writing, and counting.
• Ability to recognize and distinguish clothing types, categories, and conditions.
• Ability to take direction, work independently, and remain motivated and productive.
• Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and sound judgment.
• Dependability, punctuality, and the ability to maintain consistent productivity in a fast-paced environment.
• Neat appearance and good personal hygiene.
• Support for working for a Christian ministry and respect for the mission statements of Liberty Thrift and Liberty Ministries.
• Willingness and ability to assist in other production-related capacities as needed.

Nice To Haves

• Previous experience in clothing sorting, thrift production, warehouse operations, or similar work is preferred but not required.
• Ability to recognize clothing categories, maintain an organized workstation, and work efficiently in a team-oriented production environment is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Sort incoming clothing donations efficiently and accurately according to Liberty Thrift standards and procedures.
• Categorize clothing by type, including men’s, women’s, children’s, and other designated classifications.
• Identify damaged, stained, excessively worn, or otherwise unsalable clothing and separate it for recycling or other designated processing when needed.
• Maintain an organized, clean, and safe sorting workstation.
• Follow established procedures for handling, sorting, and organizing incoming clothing donations.
• Meet daily production goals while maintaining accuracy and quality standards.
• Work cooperatively with team members and supervisors to maintain an efficient and productive workflow.
• Assist with other clothing production activities as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
