About The Position

Inova Ashburn Healthplex and Inova Cornwall Healthplex are seeking a Clinical Technician to work in their Emergency Departments at both locations. This is a full-time night-shift role, with three 12-hour shifts per week; workdays vary, and candidates must be available to work any day when scheduled. The schedule includes an every-other-weekend rotation. Candidates must attend a paid six-week training period that includes virtual sessions, off-site classroom training from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and on-unit orientation shifts at the hospital.

Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, the Clinical Technician assists with direct patient care, basic activities of daily living, vital-sign measurement, and intake and output. The role requires accurate documentation, timely communication of patient-status changes, and reinforcement of discharge teaching and home-care skills. The technician demonstrates required clinical skills and knowledge of the assigned patient population, completes duties within established time frames, and works with a Registered Nurse on a professional development plan.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to attend the six-week training period, including virtual training sessions, off-site classroom training days, and on-unit orientation shifts.
• Availability to work three 12-hour night shifts per week, any day of the week when scheduled, including an every-other-weekend rotation.

Responsibilities

• Assist in delivering direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.
• Provide basic activities of daily living nursing care, such as bathing and feeding, and measure vital signs and intake/output.
• Demonstrate competency in required clinical skills and technologies in accordance with Inova Health System policies and procedures.
• Complete assigned patient duties within established time frames.
• Demonstrate knowledge of growth and development when caring for the assigned patient population.
• Complete necessary documentation accurately and reinforce discharge teaching and home-care skills.
• Communicate changes in patient status to the Registered Nurse in a timely manner.
• Partner with a Registered Nurse to create a professional development plan supporting up-to-date patient care skills.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
