About The Position

With limited supervision, the Clinical Staff Leader (CSL) reports to the Nurse Manager. For each shift worked, the CSL functions as the department’s designated nurse leader providing operational oversight and staff supervision. The CSL works in coordination with nursing leadership. The position ensures the achievement of optimal evidence-based patient care and department goals through efficient daily operations and compliance with established rules, regulations, and guidelines. The CSL promotes Shared Governance structure and functions. The CSL assists with providing leadership presence and staff support by providing coverage for a minimum 1 holiday per year and 2 weekend shifts per six (6) weeks of unit staffing schedule, or the equivalent of 3 weekend shifts every 2 schedules. The 4N Senior Care Unit is an 18-bed geriatric adult psych inpatient unit, located on the fourth floor of the Northside of the Institute of Psychiatry building. All patient rooms are semi private & serve elderly (60 yrs. & over) patients admitted for psychosis (paranoia and/or hallucinations), major depression, some cognitive disorders, and/or are at risk for self-harm or harm to others.

Requirements

Licensure as a registered nurse by the South Carolina Board of Nursing or a compact state.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) required, either a certification from an American Heart Association (AHA) BLS for Healthcare Providers (or AHA recognized equivalent) or an American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor of Nursing degree preferred unless current MUSC employee.
RN staff hired on or after July 1, 2013 with an Associate or Diploma degree in nursing are required to be enrolled in an accredited BSN program within two years and successfully obtain a BSN degree within four years of the RN hire or reclassification date.
