Doctors Hospital of Laredo, a 183-bed acute care facility in Laredo, TX, is seeking a Clinical Pharmacy Manager. This role is responsible for the development, supervision, and evaluation of clinical pharmacy services, ensuring adherence to evidence-based medication use processes and current practice standards. The manager will collaborate with other clinical hospital departments to support a multidisciplinary approach to patient care and align departmental activities with overall hospital objectives. The position involves providing pharmaceutical care to patients from neonate to geriatric, including drug therapy monitoring, drug information, patient counseling, and rounding with medical services. Collaboration with UHS Corporate Clinical Pharmacy Services is expected. The role includes developing educational materials, providing educational programs for pharmacy staff and hospital personnel, directing the adverse drug reaction documentation and reporting process, and assisting in the development and monitoring of clinical services integration. The manager will also assist staff with clinically problematic patients, perform duties of a licensed registered Pharmacist as required, coordinate the Pharmacy and Therapeutics (P&T) Committee, organize the implementation of P&T-approved initiatives and formulary management, and assist the medical staff in cost-effective therapy selection. Oversight and coordination of Antimicrobial Stewardship, Opioid Stewardship, and Medication Safety initiatives are key responsibilities. Effective communication with patients, physicians, visitors, and employees is essential. Departmental staffing duties may be required, and travel to offsite locations may be necessary. The role also involves exhibiting Service Excellence standards, maintaining a respectful environment, and making recommendations for improving working relationships.
