About The Position

The Clinical Nursing Supervisor provides administrative support for department service functions and works collaboratively with the unit Director and/or Manager. When the Director and/or Manager is absent, the supervisor may assume the assigned unit’s administrative scope. The role supports daily unit operations and is accountable for staff and departmental functions during the assigned shift. Direct patient care may be provided as needed, within the scope of practice.

Requirements

• Current and valid state Registered Nurse license.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certificate upon hire and maintained thereafter.
• Minimum of 2 years of clinical nursing experience.

Nice To Haves

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
• One year of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
• Critical Care Registered Nurse (CCRN) certification preferred for Intensive Care.
• Professional certification within 2 years of hire.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement departmental plans, including performance improvement activities and compliance with current federal and state regulations.
• Prepare, conduct, and/or oversee department orientation and personnel training.
• Communicate with staff, physicians, and administration, both verbally and in writing.
• Remain responsible and accountable for the quality of staff and functions during the assigned shift.
• Assist the Department Director with daily unit operations by directing, supervising, and evaluating personnel.
• Ensure appropriate use of time, equipment, and staff, and promote efficient department functions.
• Perform direct patient care as needed within the scope of practice.
• Continuously assess care and direct staff to make immediate changes to the plan of care.
