The Clinical Nurse provides outpatient care to pediatric and adolescent and young adult (AYA) patients with hematologic and oncologic conditions at MD Anderson’s Pediatrics – Child & Adolescent Center. Care includes administering chemotherapy, blood products, and immunotherapies. The nurse practices autonomously within the scope of professional nursing practice and collaborates with physicians, nursing leaders, patients, families, and the interprofessional team to anticipate needs, deliver evidence-based care, and achieve measurable outcomes. The role contributes to daily unit operations, quality improvement, and the application of new evidence and best practices. The Clinical Nurse supports peers through coaching and mentoring, participates in evaluating and improving care delivery, and helps measure and sustain unit outcomes. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 6:00 p.m., in 10-hour shifts, with a rotating weekday off and some on-call responsibility on weekends and holidays. Applicants must graduate from an accredited school of professional nursing and hold a current Texas RN license and BLS or CPR certification. A bachelor’s degree in nursing and two years of relevant clinical nursing experience, preferably in pediatrics or oncology, are preferred. Clinical nurses with less than one year of RN experience must participate in the Clinical Nurse Residency Program. Additional certifications may be required or preferred depending on the patient care area.
