The Clinical Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive nursing care to patients and their families through implementation of a plan of care. The plan is based on the patient’s developmental and health care needs, identified through assessment of physical, psychological, and socioeconomic status, as well as physician orders regarding care, treatment, and education. The Clinical Nurse understands organizational needs and supports the mission, values, and management of patient care services. The role actively supports and incorporates the ANA Scope and Standards of Nursing Practice, the North Carolina Board of Nursing Practice Act, WakeMed’s Division of Nursing Professional Practice model, and WakeMed’s Patient & Family Centered Care (PFCC) model. PFCC’s four key concepts are dignity and respect, information sharing, participation, and collaboration.
