About The Position

The Experienced Clinical Nurse at MD Anderson Cancer Center manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating and supporting clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care. They impact quality of patient care, patient outcomes and use of resources in a designated area in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team. G22 IMU is a specialized intermediate care unit providing advanced monitoring and treatment for oncology patients who require a higher level of care than a general medical unit but do not need intensive care. Nurses on this unit manage complex therapies, monitor for complications, and provide education and emotional support to patients and families. MD Anderson is among 1% of hospitals nationwide who have earned five consecutive Magnet Recognition Program® designations from the American Nurses Credentialing Center. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing
  • RN license
  • At least twelve months of recent RN experience in medical/surgical or an acute care setting.
  • Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing.
  • RN - Registered Nurse - State Licensure
  • Current State of Texas Professional Nursing license.
  • ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support Upon Hire
  • PALS - Pediatric Advanced Life Support Upon Hire

Responsibilities

  • Manages patient outcomes by providing, coordinating, and supporting the clinical aspects of direct patient care across the continuum of care.
  • Collaborates with physicians, other healthcare services, patients, and patients' families to plan care and evaluate outcomes.
  • Improves practice by integrating findings and theories from research studies into clinical care.
  • Participates in data collection for current research studies.
  • Demonstrates clinical competency and compassion in patient care through the use of technology, medication administration, procedural interventions, and emergency management.
  • Accesses, enters, and retrieves information from computer systems.
  • Ensures continuity of care through appropriate discharge planning, patient education, and coordination of services.
  • Serves as a patient and family advocate to uphold patient rights and promote quality care.
  • Trains, coaches, and supports team members to ensure optimal patient care and the efficient use of resources.
