About The Position

The Clinical Nurse I – MedSurg role provides direct patient care in accordance with the Nurse Practice Act to assigned patients on Medical/Surgical units. The nurse collaborates with other disciplines of the health care team to ensure the delivery of safe, timely and appropriate quality patient care. This includes providing physical assessments, nursing interventions, pain management, medication administrations, specimen collection, meeting nutritional needs, and teaching and discharge needs of the patients assigned. Utilizes the nursing process based on evidence-based best practices to meet patient care needs. Evaluates and adjusts the nursing care process as necessary with consultation as needed, and confers with the appropriate resource personnel when making ethical/legal/medical dilemma decisions. Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Clinical Nurse I’s at Magnet designated facilities only require a BSN or that a BSN program is started within one year of hire date and BSN degree is attained within two years of the starting the BSN program.
Registered Nurse in the State of California - Current and in good standing.
Current BLS certification prior to clinical rotation.
For GI Lab: Moderate Sedation experience required.
For Oncology infusion, oncology infusion experience is required.
For Non-Oncology Infusion, no experience is required.
ADN required for Therapeutic Apheresis.
One year critical care, dialysis, or donor/patient apheresis experience for Therapeutic Apheresis.
For HHI Main X-Ray: Interventional Radiology and/or vascular access experience preferred.
For PICC Services: Ultrasound guided vascular access experience is preferred.
For Surgical – 6 West: Experience in SUB-ICU preferred.
For Surgical – 6 West: Experience on Surgical-6 West unit preferred.
For Telemetry: Previous Telemetry experience preferred.
For Radiation Oncology: Oncology experience preferred.
For NB Interventional Radiology, CT, Magnetic Resonance, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: Interventional Radiology experience preferred.
For Pain Management Center: Pain Management Procedural/Clinic experience, Interventional Radiology Procedural experience, Vascular access experience, Spine Ortho/neuro specialty experience, OR Circulating experience preferred.
For Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program: At least 2 years of experience in addiction/behavioral health environment preferred.
For Hospice: Minimum of two (2) years’ experience, at least one of which is in the area of public health, home care, or hospice nursing is preferred.
For Home Health: One (1) year of home health care experience preferred.
For Heart and Vascular Institute (HVI): Experience in cardiac telemetry required.
For Gyn/Urol: Medical/Surgical, Gyn/Urology experience preferred.
Solid computer technical skills required, including proficiency with Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) and additional Organizational systems (Affinity, SMS, and PACS).
For Gamma Knife: Previous telemetry experience preferred including but not limited to PACU, ED, ICU/CCU, GI Lab units.
For Cardiac Telemetry: Successful completion of Sub-Intensive, Intermediate, Progressive or Critical Care course/experience preferred.
For Acute Rehab: Experience in Functional Improvement Measure (FIM) preferred.
For Acute Rehab: Previous experience in rehab nursing preferred.
BSN preferred.
For Ortho Surgery Center: Two years clinical/management experience preferred.
For Advanced Brain and Spine Unit: Fulfills mandatory stroke education requirements per certification.
For Advanced Brain and Spine Unit: Neurology and Neurosurgery telemetry experience preferred, including but not limited to: stroke, seizure, brain tumor/surgery, Parkinson’s, spinal surgery.
For Cardiac Telemetry: Successful completion of ECG test required.
For Gamma Knife: Successful completion of ECG test required.
For GI Lab: Previous GI nursing experience preferred.
For Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI): Successful completion of ECG test required.
For Hoag Orthopedic Institute (HOI): Orthopedic nursing experience preferred.
For Hospice: Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
For Home Health: Must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state and/or organization requirements and is in good working order.
For Outpatient Chemical Dependency Program: Self-motivated and directed, must have a positive attitude toward individuals in substance abuse treatment.
For Ortho Surgery Center: Successful completion of ECG test required.
For Therapeutic Apheresis: One year donor/patient apheresis experience preferred.
For Radiation Oncology: OCN preferred.
For Irvine Medical – Oncology: ONS/ONCC Chemotherapy Immunotherapy Certificate Course (ONS- Oncology Nursing Society) required within 24 months of hire.
For Advanced Brain and Spine Unit: NIHSS and ACLS required upon hire.
For Cardiac Telemetry: ACLS required upon hire.
For Gamma Knife: ACLS required upon hire.
For GI Lab: ACLS.
For Heart Valve Clinic and CVOR: BLS and ACLS required upon hire.

For HHC ISC OP Surgery: ACLS and BLS.
For Nursing Staffing: ACLS and BLS.

For HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: ACLS certification is required.
For HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: PALS certification is required within 6 months of hire/transfer to department.
For HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: NIHSS certification is required within 30 days of hire/transfer to department.
For PICC Services: ACLS certification is required.
For HHI Main X-Ray: ACLS certification is required.
For Hoag Imaging Center Newport Beach: ACLS Certification is required.
For Surgical (5 West and 6 West): ACLS required.

HHNB Interventional Radiology, CT Scan, Magnetic Resonance Imaging, Ultrasound, Main X-Ray: CRN (Certified Radiology Nurse) is preferred.
Therapeutic Apheresis: ACLS Certification.
