About The Position

This position requires the full understanding and active participation in fulfilling the mission of Saddleback Medical Center. The Wound/Ostomy care Nurse functions as a clinical and a professional role model for nursing staff; demonstrating accountability, performance and responsibility in clinical practice. The Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse oversees and as indicated, provides education and training to the nursing staff on wound/ostomy related issues/topics. Additionally, the Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse provides age-specific education to patient and family regarding wound/ostomy self-care issues. The Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse provides clinical leadership and serves as a resource person to facilitate problem-solving and support decision making skills of staff and patients. The Wound/Ostomy Care Nurse functions as a change agent to improve patient care and supports interdisciplinary collaboration.

Requirements

Minimum three (3) years recent clinical experience in an Acute Care Hospital setting working with adult patient populations, including wound care
Windows, computer skills, proficiency in Microsoft office applications preferred
Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
Current California RN License
American Heart Association Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) required
Certified Wound Ostomy Nurse (CWOCN)or Certified Wound Care Nurse (CWCN) and Certified Ostomy Care Nurse (COCN) certification required

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing preferred

Responsibilities
