About The Position

Under the direction of the Manager, the Clinical Nurse Educator (CNE) integrates knowledge and skill reflective of the Health Services model of care and principles of adult learning, in the provision of education, research, and quality client centered care for a defined group of clients and programs. The incumbent will provide visible, proactive leadership and promote the delivery of client centered care through identified education programming. In collaboration with their Manager, the CNE is responsible for assessing learning needs of staff, planning, implementing, and evaluating education activities/programs. The Clinical Nurse Educator will use a consultative approach and research findings to provide support to health care professionals as appropriate. Positions will have specific responsibilities related to specialized client needs and clinical knowledge within designated units/programs.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved Nursing Program.
  • Requires, or is in progress towards, a Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing from a recognized university or comparable degree in education/adult learning.
  • Requires a minimum of three (3) years experience related to the clinical area within the past five (5) years.
  • Requires one (1) year previous experience in adult education.
  • Requires experience in program/resource development related to needs assessment, planning, program design, implementation, and evaluation, teaching adults, facilitation skills, and leading group activities.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Articulates theory and knowledge related to client centered care and principles of adult education.
  • Demonstrates ability to develop educational programs/resources including needs assessment, planning, design, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Demonstrates ability in teaching, facilitation, and group activities.
  • Demonstrates ability to establish and maintain effective interpersonal/consultative relationships and communication patterns.
  • Demonstrates effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrates ability to apply research to clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates critical thinking and problem solving abilities.
  • Demonstrates ability to integrate clinical knowledge and experience into activities to enhance clinical practice.
  • Demonstrates ability to accept and implement change.
  • Demonstrates commitment to continuing professional development.
  • Demonstrates leadership skills and ability to be self-directed.
  • Demonstrates ability to plan and carry out responsibilities with a minimum of supervision.
  • Knowledge of occupational health and safety standards and application of such.
  • Requires current registration with the Saskatchewan Registered Nurses Association (SRNA).
  • Requires certification for life support, required by the program.
