About The Position

The Clinical Medical Assistant Lead is responsible for overseeing clinical performances for the Medical Assistants and arranging coverage for day-to-day clinical operations. This role also involves working directly as a Medical Assistant, providing assistance to providers in the delivery of medical care to patients. The Lead acts as a role model for clinical staff.

Requirements

  • At least three years of experience as a Certified Medical Assistant required.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and other employees.
  • Ability to communicate and present information.
  • Ability to read, interpret, understand and apply clinical policies and procedures.
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend solutions.
  • Ability to establish priorities and coordinate work activities.
  • Associate’s degree in medical assisting or the equivalent in education and related work experience required.
  • Recognized certificate from accredited education institution for Medical Assistant or Certified Nurses Aid, or the equivalent in education and work experience, required.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior team leader, supervisory or scheduling experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees clinical performances of medical assistants and arranges for coverage for day-to-day clinical operations, ensuring adequate coverage for providers to maximize productivity; works closely with the PM to instruct and delegate duties to the clinical and clerical staff.
  • Monitors overtime and staffing coverage; assists with interviewing candidates for open MA positions; provides or arranges for orientation and training for new clinical and clerical staff; provides input for performance evaluations.
  • Promotes scheduling access with daily review.
  • Participates in quality control/performance improvement activities.
  • Oversees Risk Management activities; works directly with Risk Manager, including proper handling of lab specimens, control logs for refrigerator temperatures, sample medications, monitoring medications and supplies for expiration, and infection control measures.
  • Coordinates compliance with quality control logs; oversees clinical/clerical compliance along with PM for MU/ACO/PCMH/UDS measures.
  • Acts as a super-user for the EMR and provides training and assistance to MA’s or schedulers, as needed.
  • Partners with other site location MA lead to support coverage and trainings when needed.
  • Assists practice manager with other duties as assigned.
  • May fill in at front desk, medical records and other areas as needed.
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.

  • Participation in community activities as a representative of Bucksport Regional Health Center.
