About The Position

This position functions as the charge RN, directing and supervising patient care within the department. The Clinical Manager oversees daily operations of units, maintains awareness of patient status, and ensures ongoing appropriate care management assignments and plan of care. The primary clinical focus is 70-80%. This role participates in evaluations of delivery of care modality, patient classification, staffing systems, and assures appropriate scheduling/staffing of the unit. The manager reviews patient care records frequently for appropriate documentation of care received and performs chart audits. They identify and address staff education needs through clinical hands-on coaching/teaching and/or provision of structured education/in-service programs. This role provides orientation and education to staff and nursing students in collaboration with schools of nursing. The Clinical Manager supervises RN practice to validate professional competency of staff. They hire, terminate, counsel, and conduct performance evaluations and corrective actions of staff as required for the effective functions of the department (or effectively recommends same) in collaboration with the department director. The manager is able to meet patient care requirements of staff RN job description and provide patient care as needed. They assist the department director in creating, updating, or reviewing all policies/procedures with evidence-based research. The role investigates patient complaints and handles them appropriately in collaboration with the department director/patient advocate. The Clinical Manager monitors productivity daily, adjusting staffing levels appropriately, and facilitates appropriate rest and meal breaks for staff. They promote current evidence-based practice and appropriate implementation of standards of care and are accountable for the implementation and sustainability of new processes. Marginal functions include performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Current applicable nursing experience with proven leadership skills
Preceptor/educative experience
Advanced nursing skills with knowledge of psycho-social concepts and problem resolution skills
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team
Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
Must be adaptable and able to maintain calm under stress and be flexible with priorities and activity
Must be willing to work varied hours with flexible schedule
Current Oregon RN license
Medium to high physical and mental demand capabilities required
Cognitive skills necessary to perform essential job functions using independent judgment
Physical demands same as RN II with hands on provision of care
Must be able to function during periods of stress, exposure to trauma and/or disease and possess the requisite visual, auditory, and fine motor skills of the nursing function
