As a Clinical Learning & Practice Lead at Pioneer Ridge, the region’s most respected long-term care home, you will play a pivotal role in shaping high-quality, evidence-informed care by leading clinical education and professional practice initiatives for 150 residents. Requirements

  • Current unrestricted certificate of competence (registration in good standing) as a Registered Nurse or Registered Practical Nurse with the College of Nurses of Ontario,
  • Two years of experience teaching in health care environment,
  • Working knowledge of applicable legislation, regulations, and best practices, and
  • Working knowledge of the Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care Act and regulations.
  • Expert skills and an advanced level of clinical competence in supporting and promoting senior’s health
  • Superior facilitation skills with the ability to plan, develop, and deliver presentations to a variety of audiences using oral, written, and electronic communication

Responsibilities

  • Act as a clinical expert/resource/consultant and provide expert knowledge and nursing practices to maintain and improve resident care delivery.
  • Lead an annual strategic plan for nursing learning and development initiatives.
  • Facilitate new nurse orientation, and manage the nurse education program portfolio, and support performance improvement initiatives for nurses.
  • Conduct annual nursing learning needs and gap analyses for nurse leadership, including training, new hire orientation, and ongoing programs, in collaboration with the Supervisor – Quality Improvement & Resident Financial Services.
  • Design, implement, and facilitate training programs, incorporating adult learning principles and effective instructional strategies.
  • Develop curriculum and materials in collaboration with internal and external subject matter experts, including legislative bodies, and Ministry funded incentive and professional development program requirements.
  • Collaborate with the nursing management team to identify nurses requiring additional education or support based on professional development plans.
  • Manage logistics and scheduling for training sessions in partnership with the nursing management team.
  • Monitor staff development, performance management/review, and coaching/mentoring, of nurses and provide updates to nurse leadership.
  • Coordinate and lead check in and probationary review sessions with new hires to identify individual clinical practice learning needs and provide educational resources.
  • Support policy and procedure revision/development, learning toolkits and standard operating procedure instructions; and collaborate with the Director of Nursing and the Section’s care team to update and develop policies and procedures related to education, clinical practice, and added nursing skills.
