About The Position
The Corporation of the City of Thunder Bay has a rewarding opportunity for a Personal Support Worker. As a Personal Support Worker, this role participates as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in the provision of care for the residents at Pioneer Ridge, a facility providing 150 Long Term Care beds. Residents are treated equally in a setting of compassion and care, through quality nursing care, life enrichment programs, balanced nutrition, and social and spiritual opportunities. Requirements
- Successful completion of a recognized personal support worker or developmental services worker program; or Enrolled at a college or university in the registered practical nursing or registered nursing program.
- A genuine interest and understanding of the needs of the elderly is necessary.
- Certification in CPR.
- Competent within the meaning of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
Responsibilities
- Participates as a member of a multidisciplinary care team in the provision of care for the residents.
- Provides basic nursing care based on each resident’s developed care plan and within the framework of an established nursing program.
- Encourages and supports resident participation in activities of daily living.
- Provides input into the development and maintenance of resident care plans and participates in resident care conferences.
- Reports changes in residents’ physical and mental condition to the Registered Nurse and documents as per policy.
- Participates in maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff, demonstrating an appropriate response to emergencies and safety procedures.
