About The Position

Performs clinical laboratory procedures, examinations, and other tests according to established protocols. The role includes maintaining equipment and records and conducting quality assurance activities related to examination performance, with independent judgment and responsibility.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree required.
Current New York State license to practice as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist required.
Specialized certifications as needed.
0–1 years of technical experience required.

Responsibilities

Perform assays of biological specimens according to established policies and procedures using specified instruments, equipment, reagents, and techniques.
Review and report results; document actions taken and alert a supervisor to problems or unusual or critical results.
Maintain equipment in operating condition, including routine preventive maintenance and start-up and shut-down procedures for major instruments, and document these procedures.
Perform and document quality control procedures and follow the Standard Operating Procedure manual.
Follow laboratory policies and procedures when test systems are outside established acceptable performance levels.
Maintain a clean workbench and surrounding area and follow established safety and infection-control procedures.
Handle proficiency test samples, from receipt through analysis, in the same manner as patient specimens; perform special test procedures as directed.
Identify, correct, and report to management problems that may adversely affect test performance or results reporting.
Document corrective action when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
Troubleshoot equipment to correct malfunctions and document actions taken.
Perform related duties as required.
