About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Technologist to join its team in Mobile, Alabama. The role performs clinical laboratory testing and related technical procedures to support accurate, timely results and quality patient care. The position involves evaluating specimens, operating and troubleshooting instruments, making technical decisions, preparing and evaluating reagents or controls, and maintaining quality and safety standards. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, 10:30 PM to 7:00 AM, with alternating weekends. Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts may be required depending on business needs.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, or Medical Technology.
At least 1 year of clinical laboratory testing experience, or an MLS degree.
Understanding of laboratory operations, policies, and procedures.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
Computer proficiency and familiarity with laboratory information systems.
Strong attention to detail, communication, and organizational skills.
Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position.
Ability to pass a standardized color blindness test.
Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.

Nice To Haves

At least 3 months of clinical laboratory testing experience.
ASCP or AMT certification.
Experience working in a high-volume laboratory environment.
Non-traditional degree with applicable science credits meeting CLIA standards may satisfy the education requirement.

Responsibilities

Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria.
Perform routine and complex technical procedures and functions according to departmental Standard Operating Procedures.
Monitor, operate, and troubleshoot instrumentation to ensure proper functionality.
Make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
Prepare, test, and evaluate new reagents or controls.
Report accurate and timely test results to support quality patient care.
Perform and document preventative maintenance and quality control procedures.
Identify and replenish testing bench supplies as necessary.
Assist with specimen processing when needed.
Maintain a safe work environment and wear appropriate personal protective equipment.
