About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory Scientist III performs complex medical laboratory testing to support the diagnosis and treatment of disease. The role independently processes specimens and performs moderate- and high-complexity testing, analyzes results, and is accountable for their accuracy. It also involves maintaining complicated instruments, monitoring quality control and quality assurance, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accrediting standards, serving as a resource to customers, and managing assigned projects.

Requirements

Associate degree required.
Five years of experience in a clinical laboratory setting required.
One of the following certifications is required: MT(ASCP), MLS(ASCP), MT(AMT), MT(AAB), CLS(NCA), MT(HEW), CLT(NCA), MLT(ASCP), or MLT(AMT). Certification is waived for those with 10 years of laboratory experience.
Microbiology experience.

Responsibilities

Independently process specimens and perform moderate- and high-complexity testing.
Analyze test results and assume accountability for their accuracy.
Evaluate the need for new methods, instrumentation, and technology based on customer needs, cost benefit, and revenue generation, and inform management of findings.
Ensure compliance with accrediting agencies.
Act as a resource to customers inside and outside the department.
Manage assigned projects by developing plans, coordinating resources, setting timelines, updating the Manager, and completing work within established time limits.
Perform quality control management, including running controls, evaluating and documenting data, and taking corrective action as needed.
Communicate relevant quality-control information to a Supervisor or Manager.
Perform preventive maintenance on equipment, troubleshoot issues, and take corrective action.
Identify problems, take appropriate action, and seek guidance when needed to complete troubleshooting protocols.
