Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • 3 Years or more of lab related experience to include 3 months practicum gained in clinical, hospital or lab setting.
  • State MA-P (Medical Assistant Phlebotomist) or MA-C (Medical Assistant Certified)

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer prior waived testing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and report waived and moderately complex laboratory tests in chemistry, hematology, and microbiology.
  • Recognize problems, identify the cause (technical or instrumental) and make simple corrections by using preset strategies.
  • Use and monitor quality control procedures within predetermined parameters.
  • Performs all tasks in accordance with the Company’s safety and compliance programs.
  • Operate and communicate clearly on the phone and display good phone etiquette at all times.
  • Operate a Laboratory Information System (LIS)
  • Adherence to company safety regulations
  • Perform phlebotomy duties as required, to include venipuncture and capillary techniques, using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes and butterfly needles.
  • Assure that requisition includes patient demographics and accurate required billing information.
  • Transcribe physician orders
  • Facilitate the unobserved collection of urine specimens.
  • Interact directly with patients to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation.
  • Process, label, and store specimen samples for subsequent analysis.
  • Perform and document various quality control procedures to maintain compliance with internal and external regulations.
  • Perform Med-Competence testing.
  • Enter waived testing results into the LIS utilizing the manual entry mode.
