About The Position

Sovah Health - Danville is hiring a full-time, night-shift Clinical Laboratory Assistant. The role supports laboratory services and patient care by performing phlebotomy and specimen-collection duties, processing laboratory information and physician orders, and communicating with patients and other parties. The position requires adherence to company safety regulations and accurate handling of patient and billing information.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of college or an associate degree.
• One year of lab-related experience in a clinical, hospital, or laboratory setting.
• Phlebotomy certification.

Responsibilities

• Operate the telephone and communicate clearly while maintaining good phone etiquette.
• Operate a Laboratory Information System (LIS).
• Adhere to company safety regulations.
• Perform phlebotomy as required, including venipuncture and capillary techniques using standard equipment such as vacutainer tubes and sleeves, tourniquets, syringes, and butterfly needles.
• Ensure requisitions include patient demographics and accurate required billing information.
• Transcribe physician orders.
• Facilitate unobserved urine specimen collection, including Chain of Custody drug screens.
• Interact directly with patients to obtain information for laboratory records, explain procedures, allay fears, and elicit cooperation.
