Requirements

• Minimum of 3 years of relevant field experience as a laboratory assistant or similar/more advanced practice (MLT, Lab Tech, Phlebotomist with processing experience, etc.)
• High school diploma or equivalent
• Authorized to work in the US
• Supportive: Support students with empathy and kindness while also maintaining positive professional boundaries. Adapt teaching style to aid students that learn differently. Recognize students' strengths and weaknesses and be willing to advocate for them.
• Decisive: Ability to adapt the syllabus as needed to best serve students. Take ownership of decisions.
• Comprehensive: Punctual and prepared for class. Understand the syllabus and policies. Comfortable with presenting class material. Effectively manage class time to appropriately cover all material while still adhering to specific state-regulated time requirements.
• Process Oriented: Understand there is a reason for specific procedures and processes and make sure to follow them.
• Receptive: Willing to ask for help when needed. Accept feedback openly and be able to learn and grow from it.

• Previous teaching experience is not required

Responsibilities

• Prepare and lecture on specified content utilizing the school’s textbook.
• Administer academic and skills assessments according to the syllabus.
• Lead hands-on skills labs, including skill demonstration and student feedback.
• Maintain accurate student records and paperwork including attendance, notes on student progress and conduct in class, and recording and reporting of grades.
• Complete tasks required by the beginning of a class session including handling of student payments and accepting of student documentation.
• Practice within the rules and regulations of the school and the state in which the school is located with regard to policy.
• Follow the curriculum, as set by the Ohio School of Phlebotomy and approved by the state in which the school is located.
