About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Clinical Lab Scientist I in the Clinical Laboratory – Hematology department in Sacramento, California. The role performs laboratory testing and supports accurate, timely reporting of results. The schedule is Tuesday through Friday, 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM, and Saturday, 8:00 PM to 4:30 AM. The pay range is $47.75–$53.10 per hour. Employees may be eligible for a shift differential of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Salary offers consider relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Candidates may also be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology or biological sciences from an accredited college or university.
- Current California state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license to perform laboratory testing.
- Zero to three years of direct experience in a laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and test new reagents or controls and evaluate their usefulness against standard criteria.
- Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established procedural criteria.
- Enter test results accurately and review computer reports to monitor accurate laboratory reporting.
- Evaluate routine analyses before releasing patient reports; respond appropriately to critical values and unusual or unexpected results, and document actions taken.
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment according to approved schedules and document actions taken.
