Clinical Lab Scientist I - WD
About The Position
The Clinical Lab Scientist I performs clinical laboratory testing and related operational duties at Quest Diagnostics in Arcadia, California. The role includes preparing and testing reagents or controls, evaluating specimens and routine analyses, accurately recording and reviewing test results, responding to critical or unexpected results, and maintaining and calibrating laboratory equipment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:30 PM to 12:00 AM, with rotational weekends. The pay range is $47.75 to $53.10 per hour. The employee may be eligible for shift differentials of 10% for some or all second-shift hours and 15% for some or all third-shift hours. Annual performance bonus compensation may also be available.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology or biological sciences from an accredited college or university.
- Current California state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license to perform laboratory testing.
- Zero to three years of direct experience in a laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and test new reagents or controls and evaluate their usefulness based on standard criteria.
- Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria in testing procedures.
- Accurately enter test results and check computer review reports to monitor accurate reporting of laboratory results.
- Evaluate routine analyses before releasing patient reports; respond appropriately to critical values and unusual or unexpected results, and document actions taken.
- Perform preventative maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment according to the approved schedule, and properly document actions taken.
