About The Position
Quest Diagnostics is hiring a Clinical Lab Scientist I for its Clinical Laboratory - Microbiology General department in West Hills, California. The position is scheduled Sunday through Thursday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, with a pay range of $47.75 to $53.10 per hour. Salary offers depend on factors such as relevant skills, training, experience, education, certifications, market conditions, and organizational factors. Successful candidates may be eligible for annual performance bonus compensation. The Clinical Lab Scientist prepares and tests reagents or controls, determines whether specimens are acceptable for testing, accurately enters and reviews test results, and evaluates routine analysis before releasing patient reports. The role also includes responding to critical, unusual, or unexpected results, documenting actions, and performing and documenting preventive maintenance or calibration of laboratory equipment.
Requirements
- Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology or biological sciences from an accredited college or university.
- Current California state Clinical Laboratory Scientist license to perform laboratory testing.
- Zero to three years of direct experience in a laboratory setting.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and test new reagents or controls and evaluate their usefulness based on standard criteria.
- Determine whether specimens are acceptable for testing according to established criteria in testing procedures.
- Accurately enter test results and review computer reports to monitor accurate reporting of laboratory results.
- Evaluate routine analyses before releasing patient reports.
- Take appropriate action in response to critical values or unusual or unexpected results, and document actions taken.
- Perform preventive maintenance and/or calibration of laboratory equipment and document actions according to the approved schedule.
